Perfectly pink pasta with no added artificial colors or dyes! This food science experiment is fun for the whole family! This mezmerizing transformation starts by boiling the pasta in purple cabbage water. The pasta absorbs the pigmentation from the water turning it a subtle shade of purple. When you add an acidic based sauce, like the garlic lemon sauce recipe below, it enhances the color to a vivid pink! The best part is the absence of artificial dyes; this magical color shift is achieved purely through the wonders of nature. Follow the below instructions to create your own amazing pink pasta dish!

  1. Start by boiling purple cabbage. I cut the cabbage head in half to make sure the color really bled out into the water.

2. Next, remove the cabbage and pour pasta of your choice into the now purple water. Boil pasta according to package directions.

Drain pasta. Now you have purple pasta! Sorry for the foggy pic, it was steamy!

3. The secret to turning the pasta pink is lemon. The acid in the lemon is what makes the pasta turn a fun pink color! Below is the recipe we used for a garlic lemon sauce. It was delicious and would also work well on grilled chicken.

4. Add pasta and lemon sauce together. Watch as the pasta starts to turn pink before your eyes.

Enjoy your pink colored pasta without any artificial colors or dyes. This pasta is perfect for Valentines Day, Mothers Day, parties, or just family dinner night fun!
